One clue that your aging cat is not feeling well is that his once shiny coat looks dull and may even have mats .
Cats are usually fastidious groomers but arthritis, injuries and illness may affect them that they will be unable to keep their own coat healthy.
Aid your cat to keep its coat healthy by brushing it regularly. Brushes lift and remove loose hair that can cost hairballs. This also improves circulation and triggers oil secretion that keeps the coat healthy.

Many cats are attracted to small, shiny objects that are easily carried in the mouth.
To prevent a choking accident and not to loose your favorite jewelery, put away rings, brooch, pins in a tightly locked box.
All rubber bands, pins, thumb tacks are to be put in drawers or containers. Make sure that there are no needles lying around the house.

Put a bit of uncooked rice into an empty medicine bottle or canister and seal the cap with tape to prevent it from being pulled off.
Rolled it to your cat when it's in a playful mood. The sound will be very irresistible to cat. She will soon start to chew, rattle and pushed it around for hours trying to figure it out.

Take a handful of feathers or bits of papers and attached them to a flexible pole (or a 'lidi') . Then flag it in front of cat to get her attention. This is usually too much of a temptation for cat to resist. In no time your cat will be running, jumping and doing body twists and turns just to catch the feathers.

Cats, no matter small or big, at any ages love to be loved.
In order to encourage your cat to be more affectionate, try spending more time playing with her. The time you allocate to cat is certainly more meaningful than what you might have thought.
After a vigorous play session, cat needs to nap. Use this opportunity to place her on your lap. Gently stroke her her head, behind her ears, going back and forth until she falls asleep on your lap. Stay put for half an hour minimum. Start this habit as early as cat is still a kitten. These bonding moments goes a long way in creating a cat who loves cuddling.
